This is the first thing I saw on Susan's balcony this morning when I opened the blinds. I do believe it's Henry, the daredevil.
We played Mah-Jong, and I was cursed with no jokers again, but it was fun to interact with people and learn some skills.
No headache. Better air. Just an all-around better day.
I listened to my book this afternoon and finished Emily's quilt. Finally. I dare her to find a spot that's loose. It will be like getting an old friend back.
Elise and I kept being interrupted by loud voices across the way, very upset about something Biden said or did. I'm sure fox news is pushing a new conspiracy theory today - kind of like that terrifying idea of Antifa members moving into YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD or how to manipulate CDC data to make it look like the Covid virus is just going away.
Elise and I turned on the real news and just laughed so hard at all the horrendous things we heard. Nothing to do but laugh. At least we got it out of our system.
Trump told the very believable story that he read the Woodward book, all 446 pages of it, in one night. And it was boring.
And climate change is a hoax. Deep thoughts here: When trees fall down, after a short period of time — about 18 months — they become very dry. They become, really, like a matchstick. And they get up — you know, there’s no more water pouring through, and they become very, very — well, they just explode. They can explode.
Also, leaves — when you have years of leaves — dried leaves — on the ground, it just sets it up. It’s really a fuel for a fire. So they have to do something about it." Like raking the forests? That won't be cheap.
I was proud to see Wolf Blitzer calling out Kushner over a tweet trump made calling Joe Biden a pedophile. Kushner steered the conversation away quickly and boasted about the president being "transparent," like that's a good thing. I'm afraid we all know what's inside of him, and it's scary. This is the person who is supposed to be running our country. Wolf was not afraid to give Kushner the message for his father-in-law that, this is "ugly, disgusting stuff." So what's new? I just wonder how many people think this is a good thing and are cheering him on.
Leaving on a bit of good news. Scientific American has endorsed a president for the first time in its 175-year history - Joe Biden. This is a no-brainer since Trump doesn't believe in science. Good for them!
I just had a fun conversation with Emily on her way home from work, covering the above :) and re-assessing how I can get some more time with the girls since a vaccine probably won't be available - one that we can trust - any time soon. I'm not going to jump in and get one until lots of people try it before me! Hopefully, we can do some outdoor things as long as the weather is nice. We do love fall, and the leaves will be getting crunchy soon.
She told me a fun story about watching a surgery today. I asked how she did, and she was honest about it and said she came close to fainting or having to leave. It was only her second one, but she had the strange sensation in the middle of it that "this is my friend!" With her mask on and a handy chair, she was able to sit down and save face, but it wasn't the best time of her life. She knows it helps her in her job to see what the surgeons do, so she's going to see if it gets better.
I reminded her of the night she took me to the cadaver lab at PT school. I'm not sure why I agreed, but I think I did fine. The bodies didn't bother me as much as I thought. Or even the smell. It was just going into that empty building at night with no one there but us. Spooky. They all had names, and she was excited about showing me various interesting things they had discovered. It was a lot different from the cat I dissected in anatomy - a LOT different. I tried not to look at their faces. When I was doing medical transcription and typing a lot of surgical procedures, I tried to watch some surgeries on a TV channel, and it was really hard. I think it's the blood!
And that was a good Tuesday.
