Ending and Beginning

We ended our long journey last night and are beginning this new phase in our lives.  We're relieved and excited but so tired we can barely enoy it.  It will get harder before it gets easier, and moving all our stuff into the apartment tomorrow will be quite a challenge.  I hope the movers are strong and energetic and don't mind stairs.  We had a nice day of sunshine today, maybe the last one for a long time.

I went over and took a few things from the car into the apartment and turned on the heat.  It gets warm quickly, and the fireplace is great.  It already looks cozy with no furniture.  Mike walked over and we looked over the space.  We're convinced it will work, although it will take some creativity and patience.

The drive yesterday was forgettable - rain all morning and most of the afternoon - all the way to Portland.  After that, it was clear, thank goodness, because the traffic was awful, in my opinion.  I'm just not used to that MUCH traffic at one time.  Luckily, I won't have much business on that interstate, if any.

It was nice to see Emily and Ryan and the babies again and find a place to lay our heads.  Stella did well in the bedroom, even with Jack keeping watch outside the door.  She seems right at home.  She even let Graysen feed her and pet her gently.

We rode to town to find our State Farm agent and were awed again by the beauty of this area.  We ran into Graysen's new school that she will start in the fall, Rooster Valley Farm School.

It sounds wonderful, and just like something she will love.  I can't wait to read more about it.  The good thing about it is that even I can drive there and take and pick her up.  When she saw this picture, she said, "The Barn, The Barn.  That's where I live, in a barn!"  They have chickens and rabbits and are getting some sheep.  Graysen gathered her own eggs, brought them home, and ate them.

Some pictures from the apartment to town.

I have Katherine pictures too but no time to upload them now.  I'm not sure why the pictures are so big now, but I like it.

We appreciate all the prayers and good wishes from the ones who followed us on our trip.  I'm glad it's over and hope we'll have lots of company soon.
